May 7-9 Comanche Little Ponies Pow-wow - Lawton, OK Happy Mother's Day! It was a hot one. We are usually in California over this time, but with high cost of overhead and gas prices, we just couldn't make our California run this year. I understand there was another fake Rez Dog vendor there. Don't buy from these jerks!!! Only purchase from authorized Rez Dog vendors - look for the Rez Dog logo on your tees. We only print on the highest quality Hanes Beefy Tees. These guys are trying to scam you, the consumer. Get their contact information from them, pass it on to us, so we can shut them down! Help Rez Dog take a bite out of crime!! May 14-16 Tunica Biloxi Pow-wow - Marksville, LA Rain pushed the pow-wow indoors. It seems like we are getting rained on every weekend. June 4-6 Red Earth Festival - Oklahoma City, OK Dee Ann Alexander, head of the festival committee did a nice job and was easy to work with. But we hope someday the board governing the festival committee will be made up of Native Americans, and they will be just as gracious. Rez Dog provided the festival staff with their cool production crew t-shirts. We had several of our beautiful calendar models at Red Earth this year signing calendars: Erika Focht, Ashley Roberts, Charleta Richey, Keli Focht, Nikki Palmer, Nicole Rodriguez and Tahnee Harjo. Rez Dog looks forward to working with the Oyate Challenge and DSU again next year. Rez Dog gives this event 2 paws way up!!!! February 6-9 Seminole Tribal Fair - Hollywood, FL Many thanks to our Seminole Brethren down south. Outstanding once again. This is another one of our favorite events of the year and a nice way to get the pow-wow season started. Sunny Florida was 80 degrees - the dogs had to shed their winter coats from the week before in South Dakota. Buster and staff did a great job keeping everything rolling smooth. See everybody next year - we'll be sure to stock up on your favorite Rez Dog stuff. Meredith Koenig - our Miss February calendar model signed at this event. Lucky were the dogs that got to meet her!!! February 14-15 Florida State University Pow-wow - Tallahassee, FL The dogs had a nice time. March 21-23 Denver March Pow-wow - Denver, CO Thanks so much to Grace and Ken for all of your hard work on this event! The snow kept a few people away, but not the dogs!! Adoesha Bennett, our September calendar model was there signing autographs. Great job Adoesha!! She is soooo friendly...so guys....when you get a chance to meet her....take advantage of it. She was great!!!! We did have a bit of controversy at this event, however... For the last year, Rez Dog has been receiving calls and e-mails about someone on the west coast printing bootleg, knock-off Rez Dog apparel. Apparently two companies - one in California and one in Washington. Shirts and sweatshirts with our Federally Trademarked Rez Dog on them. No one could tell us, however the name of the company, or who was doing the printing. Well..... they showed up at Denver March....and put out their fake Rez Dog apparel on their table. Shame on them!!! In Colorado, that's a felony offense to violate someone's trademark. Not cool!!!!! So, consumer beware....A gentlemen named Chris LaMarr from a Record company "WithOut Rezervation" has been selling our trademarked Rez Dog apparel and profiting on our name and reputation without authorization or permission. He says he didn't know we had a trademark. Ignorance of the law is not a valid defense. Sorry, councilor, but the "I didn't know" defense isn't going to hold up in court! It takes two minutes to look up any trademark on the US Patent and Trademark website. Rez Dog does that before we print any design to protect our company. We have a responsibility to you, our valued consumer to do that. Any printer does and should check that database before he goes and prints a design to verify that someone doesn't already have that trademark. So buyer....beware....please don't buy any unauthorized Rez Dog merchandise from this or any other vendor. If you should see anyone at a pow-wow selling Rez Dog merchandise, call us immediately at 405-217-8340 and if they are an unauthorized Rez Dog vendor, we will notify the proper authorities. If it results in their arrest and the authorities pulling their bogus Rez Dog merchandise, we will send you a free hoody of your choice or 4 free Rez Dog tees! Help Rez Dog take a bite out of crime! The video and DVD are out now, so be sure to go and rent "Skins" at your local Blockbuster Video and support our Indian directors and films. April 4-6 Dance for Mother Earth Pow-wow - University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, MI Awesome dance! Old Dog and Rez Dog met some cool interesting people and can't wait to go back. April 24- 26 Gathering of Rez Dogs, Albuquerque, NM Stop by and get some doggy snacks. We are NOT at the "pit". We hosted a hospitality room in conjunction with Two Worlds Visions Clothing. Our Hospitality Room was located at the "Hawthorne Inn and Suites" at Gibson and University Ave SE (just south of the PIT). Rez Dog and Two Worlds ran shuttles back and forth from the Hospitality Room to the pit...so get on board the Rez Dog Express to hook up with the bomb gear! Friday & Saturday: Rez Dog was kickin' it with Steve Montgomery at University Pawn on the corner of University and Central. Be sure to stop in anytime and say Hi to Steve and hook up with some cool stuff!!! When Rez Dog is in town, Rez Dog shops University Pawn for all of his 49 needs. Be sure and catch all the dogs next year at the "Gathering of Rez Dogs" same place, same time! May 3-4 18th Annual UCLA Pow-wow - UCLA Campus, Los Angeles, CA The rains came and they didn't stop. Dance got cancelled. We should have checked the forecast before hitting the road. Long, long drive from Norman, OK to Los Angeles, CA and not getting a chance to make one single sale. We thought the dance would be rain or shine. (Pow-wow committee should always have an alternate indoor facility to guard against the weather.) Believe me, the dogs will study the forecast real hard next year! But you know we had to spend some time on the sunset strip... it was actually nice to have a weekend off - first one in months. So we hit the Roxy, the House of Blues & The Viper Room. Fun! May 9-11 The 32nd Annual Stanford Pow-wow - Palo Alto, CA Great show. Nice to be back in California. Thanks to the pow-wow committee for all of your hard work and dedication. It made this a wonderful event. We look forward to this one every year. A big "Happy Mother's Day" to all of our Moms who stand behind us, nurture us and love us - especially to our Mom - Edna Boardman in Bismarck, North Dakota. Rez Dog wouldn't exist without her help, love and support!!! May 16-18 DeAnza College Pow-wow - Cupertino, CA Nice dance, nice setting. Good booth location. Good to see a lot of friends and Rez Dog supporters. Native Naturals' new Essential Oils, Fragrance Oils and Massage Oils were a big hit with the California ladies!!! Went to the famous Fillmore in San Francisco to see folk rock singer/songwriter Dar Williams. You may remember her hit "Road Buddy" off of the Smoke Signals soundtrack. Cool chick! We hooked her up with a Rez Dog "On the Prowl" hoody after the show. Check her out in concert if you get the chance. May 24-26 Ho-Chunk Wazijaci Memorial Pow-Wow - Black River Falls, WI Great Dance and turn out. The dogs had the best time in Ho-Chunk country and were welcomed with open arms. Perfect weather, perfect pow-wow and perfect booth location. It doesn't get any better than this!!! The dogs met some really nice people and we hope to get back soon. Look for the Rez Dog booth and get your official Rez Dog All-Star Football Game shirt!!! For more info go to www.ndnsports.com. June 27-29 1st Annual Camel Rock Casino Pow Wow - Santa Fe, New Mexico Dust storm got the best of the dogs at this event. We're still shaking the dirt from our coats. Rez Dog booth set up wasn't built to withstand gale force winds in the desert. Nice pow-wow for the dancers and the crowd under the big top, vendors were left out on their own. It would have been nice to have a big top for the vendors as well. October 3-4 - Tenth Annual Grand Pow-wow - Kinder, Louisiana Nothing but the best! This dance is one all the dogs look forward to every year. You know Cajun is Rez Dog's favorite kind of food. When we get to Cajun country the diet we try to stay on goes out the window. Crawfish Etoufee, Jambalya, and Red Beans and Rice, yum, yum! Look out and get out of our way. This by the way is our number 1 Casino Buffet in Indian Country. Thanks Coushatta Tribe of LA for keeping it real. See ya real soon. October 8 - The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2004 - American Indian Beauties Calendar Debut - Lucky Star Casino - Concho, OK Lucky dogs got to meet 11 of the 12 models of the only all-American Indian swimsuit calendar!!! It poured down rain tonight, so if you couldn't make it out, we still have some signed calendars, so get your orders in early. October 10-12 - Black Hills Pow-wow - Rapid City, SD We look forward to coming to this event every year. One of our favorite dances. Great pow-wow, great dance, great turnout, great booth location. Everything was great EXCEPT..... for the attack from our neighbors to the left...Native Voice Newspaper. Lise King, the editor, (a white Jewish woman from New York married to Frank King, Sioux, from South Dakota) came up to the booth, looked through the calendar and started to attack our beautiful models as "bad women" who were "peddling their flesh" etc.... Rez Dog leaped to the defense of our models and told her "no, these women are all educated - beauty as well as brains - and are all role models in their communities." She jumped on the "role models" defense statement and decided to write an entire article laced with BS and lies about our company. She said in her article that we were nothing but a "ghetto gangster company selling pornography and marketing and advertising it as role models for our young Native girls." What a bunch of BS!!!!! We have never marketed our calendar as the "role models for our young Native girls" calendar. We have always marketed our calendar to consenting adults as the "only all-American Indian swimsuit calendar - American Indian Beauties." PERIOD. Has anyone ever even heard of this newspaper? The National Enquirer of Indian country! So much for this Indian company EVER doing any kind of business with them. They just wrote an article destroying another Indian apparel company "Native Pride." Seeing a trend here???? Rez Dog was in the middle of a conversation with Indian Director Chris Eyre, when they were rudely interrupted by Lise King. She interrupted and pushed herself in the middle of them in the middle of their conversation and started harping about whether or not Rez Dog has bikinis for sale, and why are we selling a swimsuit calendar when we don't sell bikinis. (As if Sports Illustrated or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders sell bikinis either!) If these people were taking care of their own business, minding their own business, they wouldn't have time to critique our business. Rez Dog goes on record to say we will not have anything to do with this newspaper. If this can happen to us, it can happen to any American Indian business. Click here to read the response we sent to Native Voice (That they refused to print) . Reminds me of another non-Indian who came riding into Indian country on his pompous high horse... General George Armstrong Custer...and look what Indian country did to him!!! October 17-19 - Indian National Finals Rodeo - Come out and support Tess Ducheneaux and Shireen Ducheneaux as they compete for the Rez Dog Rodeo Team. November 1-5 NIEA 34TH ANNUAL CONVENTION - Greensboro, NC Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad... I'm hot for teacher!!!! We always look forward to being here at this event. Rez Dog printed the volunteer tees and embroidered denim shirts this year. Great to have Tvhokne Harjo at the booth signing the new 2004 calendars. Great to see old friends and family. Not very often the dogs get to kick it in North Carolina. Beautiful country! Get your "Will Teach for Frybread" shirts while they last! Class Dismissed! November 16-21 National Congress of American Indians 60th ANNUAL CONVENTION - Albuquerque, NM NCAI 2003 was pretty cool. The first few days went great. The dogs got to see alot of old friends and family. The forth day, along comes Lise King again from the Native Voice Newspaper causing yet another one of her famous scenes. And what a scene this one was!!! To show we have a sense of humor about our swimsuit calendar - we made up a "censored" version. We drew burkas (the now infamous long flowing black veils, made famous by the Taliban's stringent regime) around all of our swimsuit models, so just their eyes showed. And set up the censored version of our calendar along with a sign that said "Censored Version of The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2004 American Indian Beauties Calendar for Lise King, The Native Voice Newspaper, The Taliban, and anyone else trying to keep our women down." It got quite a laugh from people, who understood and appreciated our humor. Lise King, however, wasn't one of those people. She stormed into our booth full of customers, lunged at Kasey Lawrence, one of our workers and stole the calendar out of our booth, ripped our sign down, vandalizing our booth, and raced off down the trade show floor. Mary DeHaas ran after her to retrieve our stolen merchandise, but Lise King would not return it, and started screaming obscenities to Mary. She kept screaming at Mary on the trade show floor, actually calling her "chicken shit" about 10 times. She screamed and ranted that she was going to sue Rez Dog Clothing Company for slander for putting our censored version of the calendar up with a sign that mentioned her name. So Mary told her that she was going to counter sue for Native Voice printing our copy written pictures in their paper without our permission, and for liable for printing that we are gang affiliated and producing pornography. It got ugly!!! Meanwhile, we sent one of our employees to flag down the Albuquerque PD so we could have her arrested for shoplifting. Keith DeHaas appeared and finally was able to get our stolen calendar back from her. NCAI Security was called to the trade show floor to separate the parties and escort Ms. King out of the building. Keith and Mary kept saying in a calm manner that they would like to take this elsewhere and act like adults, but Ms. King ranted on that she wasn't going to move that she wanted everyone to hear what she had to say about Rez Dog Clothing Company! By the end of that hour, my wife Mary was in tears. What a bully. What an unnecessary show Lise King put on. This is a beautiful, classy calendar, produced by a female staff, to promote our beautiful Indian women, and to raise money for Native American Cancer Research. Lise King would have her readers believe that it is pornographic, even though everyone is completely clothed in swimwear. Rez Dog is trying to secure the surveillance tape from the building that day. As soon as we secure the video we will run a streaming video at our website. See all the lunacy first hand. November 22 AISES Pow-wow - Albuquerque, NM Nice one day dance. The dogs had a great time. I don't know the next time we'll set up at a AISES pow wow but we look forward to it. We realize the Vendor coordinator is a volunteer position, but the vendor coordinator still needs to treat all vendors fairly and not just give special treatment and consideration to "celebrity" vendors. I hope vendor coordinators in the future will be ethical and fair to all! November 29 Alabama Coushatta Christmas Pow-wow The dance was cancelled due to a death in the tribe. The Rez Dog Booth was set up at the Shell Station. Thanks for all the support. We love getting back to Livingston to see our friends. December 6 IICOT Christmas Pow-wow - Claremore, OK The Sooner football team was playing in the Big 12 Championship game. That's where everyone was. See ya next year. December 10 BIA Area Office - Anadarko, OK 10am to 3pm One of our favorite stops along the way. Thanks for all of your continued support. December 31 Sobriety Pow-wow - State Fairgrounds - Oklahoma City, OK We look forward to this hometown dance every year. It never disappoints. Thanks to Charleta Richey, our Miss December for coming out and signing autographs. CHECK BACK FOR TOUR UPDATES AND CHANGES |
