Pow-wow Tour Archive 2002 2002: NDN 4 Life North American Pow-Wow Tour
January - 5 Oklahoma City Pow-wow Club New Years Dance- OKC, OK Great way to start the new year. Always look forward to working with the OKC Pow-wow Club. January - 12 New Years Pow-wow - Wichita, KS Rez Dog and Baby Dog sent north up I-35 to hang out for the weekend. Good dance, we all had a great time at the beautiful Museum of the American Indian. January - 19 Benefit Dance - Greenville, TX The Dogs head south for this nice one day event. January - 26 University of Texas @ Arlington - Arlington, TX The Dogs head south again for another one day event and were pleasantly surprised. February 1-2 Bullnanza - Guthrie, OK Even though the Rez Dog Rodeo Team members couldn't make this killer event, the dogs enjoyed the weekend immensely. February 7-10 Seminole Tribe of Florida- Hollywood, FL The bomb! Best way to start out the new year. Rez Dog always looks forward to going to sunny Florida in February. Thanks to Buster & Crew for making it such a memorable experience! February 15-17 Seminole Tribe of Florida- Brighton Rez Beautiful place! If Rez Dog didn't live in Norman, OK, he'd be at the Brighton Rez. Great rodeo, good turn out. Awesome booth location. Rez Dog Rodeo Team kicked butt! Justin - 1st in Bull Riding, Tess - 1st in Barrel Racing & Koty - 2nd in Bare Back. Way to go team. You make Rez Dog proud. Look forward to coming back to this event every year. Thanks for all the support from the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Much love! February 25-27 NCAI - Executive council Winter Session- Washington DC Thanks for everything Laura. The Dogs did DC right. A little too much traffic for the dogs, though. Had to use instinct to avoid being road kill. We appreciate NCAI support throughout the year. See you in San Diego! March 9 Honor Dance, Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma - Perkins, OK The Dogs enjoyed seeing friends and family. Packed! Great crowd for this worthwhile event. We'll see you again at the Annual Fall Encampment Sept. 21-22, 2002. March 16 Oklahoma City Pow-wow Club's March Benefit Pow-wow - Oklahoma City, OK A good time was had by all. March 22-24 Denver March Pow-Wow - Denver, CO The bomb again! Rez Dog had two booths set up at this biggie. Terrific turn out as usual. Good to see so many of our friends again in the mile high city. March 29-31 30th Annual Ann Arbor Dance for Mother Earth Pow-wow - Crisler Arena, Ann Arbor, MI Kick A*# Dance!!! This was the dog's first time in Ann Arbor and the dog got a treat. Rez Dog scored the primo booth space. Great staff. Great Organization. This is one event you need to put on your pow-wow calendar. Rez Dog definitely will be back! Thanks Michigan for all your support. April 5-7 Champion of Champions Men's Basketball Tournament - Shawnee, OK (Old Dog, Rez Dog & Lil' Dog in the house!) The team we help sponsor did it. Congratulations Iron 5 of North Dakota, the overall men's champions. April 12-13 2002 University of Oklahoma Spring Stomp Dance and Contest Pow-wow - Norman, OK The Dogs had a great time at the OU pow-wow. Thanks to all involved for a smooth ride. April 19-21 ASU Pow-wow 2001 - Tempe, AZ Good turn-out. Thanks for all the support. Great dance, great weather. Same great booth location. See you same time, same place, same dog next year. April 25-27 Gathering of Rez Dogs - Albuquerque, NM $350 for a booth + $1,500 if you sell t-shirts...I DON'T THINK SO!! Who do these people think they are anyway??!! Rez Dog can sniff out BAD JUJU when it's in the air. Flea market was great. Nice to see old dear friends. Heard our Ennit? shirt helped a brother win first place in the "Best Chest of the West" contest at Midnight Rodeo. Story coming soon. April 29- May 2 The 2002 Reservation Economic Summit and American Indian Business Trade Fair - New Orleans, LA RES 2002 helps Indian businesses network with big corporations. We recommend this conference to all Indian entrepreneurs. We also hit the Jazz Fest while we were here. Great Indian stage. And did you see the great "Superman Frybread Power" shirts and aprons the group was wearing at the booth selling frybread?? Yes, those were supplied by none other than Rez Dog Clothing Company. Thanks to Josh and Brenda! Rez Dog enjoyed the Jazz Fest very much! May 10-12 Stanford Pow-wow - Stanford, CA Rez Dog finally got to bring his wife on the road for the California pow-wows. Very, very nice dance. What a great way to return to Cali. Look forward to bringing the dog pack back. See ya next year. (Hope the dance can be moved back to the soccer practice field. Eucalyptus trees, dust and the dog packs allergies didn't mix very well.) May 17-19 22nd Annual DeAnza Pow-wow - Cupertino, CA Nice dance and great booth location. Pow-wow had a good turn out. Lots of good eats, also. We got a little rain on Sunday, but not enough to send the dogs back to the house, still had a good time. We'll be back. May 31- June 1 Alabama-Coushatta Pow-wow - Livingston, TX Rez Dog and Lil' Dog took on the Texas heat. Great dance and great booth location. Thanks for all the support south Texas. June14-16 134th Annual White Earth Pow-Wow - White Earth, MN Rez Dog and Lil' Dog taken care of business in a new place. We got to meet alot of new people at this one. This pow-wow was a "sure goot one", had a good turn out and a great booth location, thanks for a great dance! See ya next year. Lil' Dog's out. June 16-19 NCAI Mid-Year Session - Bismarck, ND Rez Dog and Lil' Dog got to go back to their old stomping grounds for this one. Got to see family and old friends and also got to meet new friends, great conference NCAI, we will return , take care! Lil' Dog gots to go, peace. June 28-30 Potawotomi Gathering Rez Dog and Lil' Dog are on another journey, looking forward to this one, also the people and eats. Signing Off...Lil' Dog July 5 Absentee Shawnee 4th of July Pow-wow - Thunderbird Entertainment Center - Norman, OK The dogs didn't have to travel too far for this one. Nice to be so close to home. July 6 Pawnee 4th of July Pow Wow and encampment - Pawnee, OK All the dogs came out of the house for this great Oklahoma event. Lil' Dog, Rez Dog and Old Dog sent to TCB just like Elvis. Great dance, great turnout, the dogs loved to see the B-Boys in the house. Peace, love and see ya next year! July 11-14 Sac & Fox Nation 39th Annual Pow Wow Stroud, OK Thanks for our killer spot again this year. Oly Wurld in the booth to represent and kick it on his mad turntables. Thanks to Shock-B and the Culture Shock Camp for stopping by and busting out some mad s*^t on the tables. The freestylers had no comp at this gig. Nappy Dog - our western cousin straight out of Portland, Oregon - hit the tables to mess with ya'll's minds. Sick Sick Sick! Thanks Brian. Look for the new Shock-B CD blastin' and sellin' in the Rez Dog booth in 2002. Much love. July 19-21 40th Flandreau Santee Pow-Wow - Flandreau, SD Rez Dog and Nappy Dog head up to South Dakota to hang with our northern brethren. Nice for the dogs to get out and about. No sedentary lifestyle for this crew. The dogs like to be on the move. Rez Dog's mother - Rita Ann McLaughlin DeHaas - went to school at Flandreau, and became Miss Indian America #3 in 1955. Much props to Rez Dog's pedigree. Woof Woof. July 28-31 "Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2003" Calendar shoot Where do we even begin?????? The most beautiful girls in Indian Country, the most beautiful place in Indian country, being photographed by the best photographer in Indian country, produced by the best new company in Indian country equals THE BEST CALENDAR IN INDIAN COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Nuf said!) Your Mama never packed a lunch like this one!!!!! Look for "The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2003" autograph booth coming to a town near you. August 8-11 IICOT Pow-wow Tulsa, OK Thank you T-town. Great turn out. Rez Dog debuted the all new Women's Clothing Line here. NATIVE WOMAN STRONG was the hit of the weekend! All good dance. The Dog's tried to debut some new DJ talent in the booth, but one of our neighbors could not quite relate to something other than Elvis. (Can you turn it down a little bit-Can you turn it down a little bit) That's the way it goes. Next time the Dog's will pump the King, baby. (THANK YOU-THANK YOU VERY MUCH) See everyone next year. Stop by for some fried chicken and banana nilla wafer pudin just like mamma use to make! August 16-18 Shakopee Mdewakanton Pow-Wow - Prior Lake, MN Rez Dog, Lil' Dog and Nappy Dog sent up North to represent. This was a very, very good dance. Great arena and overall setup. Thanks for all the support and we look forward to seeing you next time. You made us feel right at home. August 22-25 Schemitzun Pow-Wow 'Festival of Green Corn' - Mashantucket, CT Another Great year on the east coast. We had a blast! Dance was good as always. Nice to have great weather, turnout and organization. Thanks to all who made this weekend the real deal. Also, good to see family and friends. All the Dogs will be back. Thanks again. August 30,31 Shinnicock Pow-Wow - South Hampton, NY The Dogs setup at the rodeo this year. Good turn out. Eric and staff did a great job. Hope to see everyone again next year. September 6-8 United Tribes Pow-wow, Bismarck, ND Back again after a 2 year hiatus. Beautiful weather and dance. Feels good to be home. The Dog's would like to thank everyone for all the support. Nice to see old and dear friends and family. We plan on making this a permanent stop on the "Rez Dog Pow-Wow World Tour" same time same place in 2003. September 20-22 Golden Eagle Casino Pow-wow - Horton, KS Rez Dog, Old Dog, Lil' Dog and Nappy Dog take the field for this one. Rez Dog designed the official shirt this year. Wonderful pow-wow grounds: nice trees, nice shade, nice breeze... Candance and staff did a bang-up job. The dog pack will be back - that's a fact Jack! October 4-5 The Ninth Grand Pow-wow - Kinder, LA Moved to the 18th & 19th of October, because of Hurricane Lili. October 10-13 Indian National Finals Rodeo - San Diego, CA Cheer on the Rez Dog Rodeo Team as they compete in the Indian National Finals Rodeo!! October 11-13 16th Annual Black Hills Pow-Wow & Art Expo - Rapid City, SD Our calendar model Ampah (January) was on hand to sign autographs Sunday for the first sneak peak at "The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2003" calendar. Thanks for the great booth location. Gloria and her staff were awesome. Thanks Sioux country for your continued support. Get your calendars locally in Rapid City at Dakota Sunshine Espresso Bar - 605 Main Street. Look for them to carry the full Rez Dog line in the future! October 18-20 The Ninth Grand Pow-wow - Kinder, LA We brought 3 of the calendar models out for this one: Toni (March), Rachael (June) and Angye (November). They signed autographs on calendars sold and had a great time. KLFY TV was on hand to cover the calendar models. Thanks Terrance! Thanks to Bradley for the great booth location. MC - Dale Old Horn gave our girls some great props as well. Next time you see him, be sure to ask him about the Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company! See you next year! October 26 The Ultimate Battle of the Bands - Norman, OK Our own Baby Dog - Mary DeHaas - was the celebrity judge this weekend at Oklahoma's answer to "American Idol" The Ultimate Battle of the Bands. She has now been christened "Diva Dog!" Double D in the house! (Baby Dog never quite fit her anyway, but it took this weekend for the truth to finally come out.) Diva Dog it is! A Rez Dog Star is Born! November 2 11th Annual Austin Pow-wow - Austin, TX Nappy Dog and Rez Dog get rained out. Look forward to seeing everyone next year. November 2-6 NIEA 33rd Annual Convention - Albuquerque, NM Toni Lee Tsatoke, one of our models from the calendar was on hand autographing at this event. Another great event. Thanks to Sheryl and staff for everything. Nice to see alot of old friends. Take care and the Dog Pack will see everyone in North Carolina 2003. PEACE. November 10-15 NCAI 59th Annual Session - San Diego, CA Shan Baldwin, Michelle Bowman and Teresa Randall, three of our models from "The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2003" calendar signed autographs. Keith, Mary & the girls were also interviewed by Andrea Garcia and Chuck Marshall from the American Indian Cable Network. Look for the story to appear soon!! December 6-7 Cliff Castle Casino Pow-wow - Camp Verde, AZ Calendar models LivA'ndrea Knoki, Michelle Bowman and Bobbi Dorchester were on hand to autograph "The Girls of Rez Dog Clothing Company 2003" calendar. GORGEOUS!!! December 14 - Cowboy Christmas Parade - Stockyard City - Oklahoma City, OK Calendar Models Adoesha Bennett, Angye Tilley and Toni Lee Tsatoke rode in the Cowboy Christmas parade. Their red Z28 convertible was provided by Yukon Chevrolet. After the parade they signed autographs at Dreamcatcher Designs, 1316 S. Agnew across from Cattlemen's Steakhouse. Lucky cowboys got their calendar signed by all three Oklahoma calendar models!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Channel 4 News - KFOR came out to do a story. Watch for us on Wednesday night December 18 at 5:00 and 10:00!!!!!! Is This a Great State or What?!!!!! December 18-20 - All Indian Basketball Tournament - Rapid City, SD Rez Dog, Old Dog and Nappy Dog are going up to spend time with the ballers. They are also bringing the Native Naturals Indian Spa Line of bath salts, soaps and scrubs with them as well - so guys don't forget - these make great stocking stuffers for your girls!!! December 21-22 - Prairie Island Pow-wow - Prairie Island, MN Rez Dog and Nappy Dog are cruising from South Dakota up to Minnesota (with no sleep, poor bedraggled dogs!) to set up this weekend. Toni Lee Tsatoke, our March calendar model, will be contesting there this weekend, so cheer her on and get your calendar signed by one of our beautiful models from the VERY FIRST ALL-INDIAN SWIMSUIT CALENDAR!!!!! December 21-22 - Dakota Square, Minot, ND Calendar Model Ampah DeHaas will be signing autographs at Dakota Square, Minot, ND Dec. 21 & 22 to help raise money for the Minot State University's Native American Cultural Center!! Come out and support their college fundraiser and say "Hello" to Miss January Ampah DeHaas!
